Community Speedwatch (CSW) is a locally driven initiative where active members of the community, with the support of the police, monitor speeds of vehicles at specific locations using approved speed detection devices.
You may have noticed our local Speedwatch team in and around the village calming the traffic. The main roads in and out of the village are relatively straight and this encourages drivers to exceed the speed limit, all of these roads are 30mph limits, but we see speeds in excess of 60+mph.This puts the lives of all our community at risk.
The Team is made up of local residents volunteering there time, working with Surrey Police to make our roads safer.
If you would like to give up an hour of your time to take part in the Speedwatch scheme contact Jeanie (The Parish Clerk) at burstowparishcouncil@gmail.com for more details.
Volunteers require training of 1hour 30mins approx. held at Reigate Police Station.
